Life has been "busy, busy, busy" for a Norfolk octogenarian hoping to complete 90 new things before his 90th birthday.

With just over five months to go before that milestone, Gorleston man Malcolm Metcalf continues to tick off activities from his ‘90 before 90’ bucket list.

His goal is to raise £10,000 for the Priscilla Bacon Hospice.

“Things have been going really well,” hesaid, after a weekend of axe-throwing and bell-ringing.

"At first thought, ‘Have I taken too much on?’

“It was slow to start with but all of a sudden, people have been emailing and ringing me, ‘Can you do this? Can you do that?’”

The only things he won’t do, he says, are jump from a plane or get a tattoo.

To date, Mr Metcalf has completed 58 challenges. Most recently, he visited Edgefield, Saxthorpe and Heydon - three Norfolk villages he had never set foot in before.

At Barnham Broom Church he rung the bell with the Windmill Ringers including Eunice Robertson.

He enjoyed axe-throwing and clay pigeon shooting at the Mid-Norfolk Shooting Ground on Fakenham Road near Norwich.

Mr Metcalf also talked on Harbour Radio with Albert Cadmore about his travels to 58 countries which have earned him the nickname the 'Michael Palin of Gorleston'
