The water company said the investment will add resilience to supplies and protect water quality for the 98,000 customers the site serves.
A further £500,000 is being invested at the WTW to install new monitors that will help the site team quickly identify and resolve issues with the raw water it treats.
Will Tann, project manager at Essex & Suffolk Water, said: “The investment at Ormesby Water Treatment Works will support our ability to continue delivering high quality, great tasting water to our customers across the Great Yarmouth area.
“Through upgrades to elements of our treatment process, as well as the investment in monitoring, we have added resilience to this important site, which will add real benefit to almost 100,000 customers.”
