Couples looking to tie the knot are being invited to an open event at Great Yarmouth Town Hall to help them have a day they'll never forget.

A wedding open day will run from 10.30am to 2pm on Sunday, October 15 at the town hall giving couples a chance to see what it has to offer and meet the venue's wedding co-ordinator and discuss ideas.

The Grade II-listed venue, which is the home of the borough council, will also be dressed and styled for a wedding, offering couples a glimpse of what to expect on their big day.

Although the event is all about showcasing the venue, there will also be a handful of local suppliers on hand to offer advice and inspiration to couples.

The town hall has options to suit intimate services up to much larger wedding parties, with space for up to 200 people in the Assembly Room.

The event is free to attend, and there is also free car parking available at Greyfriars car park.

Wendy Takman, wedding and events co-ordinator at Great Yarmouth Town Hall, said: “The town hall is an accessible, affordable venue which caters for all sizes of weddings and ceremonies.

“Whether you’re throwing a lavish affair with a 100-plus guests or a more intimate ceremony with just immediate family, all of our stunning rooms offer the perfect backdrop for your special day.”

Couples who are unable to attend the event are invited to arrange a viewing of the venue by calling Wendy Takman on 01493 846154 or emailing wendy.takman@great-yarmouth.gov.uk

The town hall was opened on May 31, 1882, by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII.

More than a hundred years after opening the building, Edward VII’s great-grand-daughter Queen Elizabeth II visited the landmark building with the Duke of Edinburgh in 1985, where they were welcomed by a choir of 250 local children.
