They are brave emergency service personnel who risk their lives to save people from fires and crashes across Norfolk.

And now a call has gone out to the people of Norfolk to support teams of firefighters who are gearing up for an epic fundraising challenge.

More than 250 Norfolk firefighters and fire staff are set to run night and day for 72 hours over a distance of 385 miles in a baton relay between all 42 fire stations in the county to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Teams from every station will take turns to run and/or crew support vehicles around the clock and runners will be using a brass fire hose, known as a branch, as their baton as each one does their bit in the relay.

The challenge is due to finish at Carrow Jubilee Station in Norwich at around 4.30pm on Sunday, October 1.

Members of the public are being urged to support the firefighters and fire staff by cheering them on as they run through their communities and also making a donation.
