A 370-space car park could be coming to James Paget University Hospital to help alleviate ongoing parking issues.

The proposal for a temporary car park with 376 spaces is currently in the hands of planners. The temporary site will be in use until the development of a new hospital is underway.

It is likely the temporary car park will be in use between four and seven years and will be replaced with a multi-storey car park - or a different type of permanent car park - as part of the new hospital.

The temporary car park will be based near Potters Field, west of the solar farm, and connected to the existing Car Park E in the south. The hospital is currently finalising the purchase of this land as part of the New Hospital Programme.

Car Park E will lose seven parking spaces to create an entrance for temporary space, which will be for staff parking only.

A decision on the plans is expected by January 19.
