Traders have begun moving into new units inside Great Yarmouth's £4.7 market revamp.

Construction of the second phase of the town's multi-million-pound market building was completed at the end of September.

Last Tuesday, long-running chip stall Dearnos opened inside Unit 28, and Ros's Fruit and Veg began trading from Unit 29 today (November 13).

James Rose, from Dearno's, said he wants to "make the move work".

"We closed for a few days to get things sorted, but we've got the new unit to how we like it and things have been really positive."

"I can't talk enough about how the council has worked with us during the entire process," he said.

"If ever we had any issues, they helped solve it.

"We're very happy to be here."

Construction of a new "lighter and brighter" marketplace began in April 2021, with the first phase completed in June 2022.

Still to come in the town centre is landscaping by the market square, which will include more trees and seating areas, and the regeneration of the Palmers building into a library and education centre, which will be named The Place.

The construction of the new market area has caused some controversy, with some long-established traders choosing not to relocate to the new structure and an ongoing investigation into the cause of delays throughout the construction.
