A phone shop in Great Yarmouth has closed after the company cut around 2,000 jobs.

The O2 shop in Market Gate has closed its doors after the company, which has more than 300 stores, completed a review of its portfolio.

A spokesman for O2 said: “To ensure we deliver the great service O2 customers expect in a competitive environment, we sometimes need to evaluate how our business operates.

"Following a review of our retail strategy last year, we are ending our franchise relationships, bringing the majority of stores under company ownership."

The store closure happened after the telecoms giant merged with Virgin Media in June 2021 and the business began a full review of its stores.

The spokesman added: "We’re working with franchisees to find ways to support their employees through this change.”

There are currently no plans in place for the store with the company confirming it will not become a Virgin Media branch.
