The public has been banned from accessing a partially-collapsed coastal road after visitors ignored barriers and police tape.

Two sections of The Marrams access road in Hemsby fell into the sea on Friday after strong winds and a tidal surge.

Norfolk County Council has given notice that the use by the public of the access road from the entrances on Beach Road to Newport Road will be prohibited until December 18.

Councillor James Bensly urged visitors to be respectful of other people's mental health.

"People are attracted to the area, but unfortunately for the wrong reasons - seeing damage caused by coastal erosion - but it is having an effect on residents who are living through this ordeal and their privacy needs to be respected at this time."
