There was an emergency service presence in Great Yarmouth this afternoon.
Fire engines were seen at the Britannia Pier and The Pier Tavern was cordoned off.
It has since emerged that they were attending a fire in a toilet block in a building in Marine Parade.
The fire service was called just before 1.20pm and sent appliances from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and Lowestoft.
Crews wore breathing apparatus and used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
They left the scene just before 2.10pm.
A spokeswoman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue said there was "significant damage".
Norfolk Police has said they were alerted by the fire service who had concerns about the cause of the fire.
Their enquiries are ongoing.
