Two dry cleaning premises are up for sale in Great Yarmouth and Caister after dwindling trade forced its owner to relocate away from the town centre and high street.

Both of the Spick & Span premises are going under the hammer after the owner said dry cleaning was becoming a "dying trade".

The premises on Middle Market Road, Great Yarmouth, and Caister High Street are both currently listed with Auction House East Anglia.

Owner Neville Brown said the company has relocated to an industrial building by Gapton Hall Retail Park. The company still provides laundry services, but will no longer be able to offer dry cleaning services.

"Things have gone down a lot and it's not really a viable business at the moment.

"Dry cleaning has been a dying trade for a long time. It's annoying and frustrating as it is a service that people use, but there's just not enough volume to make it viable.

Mr Brown bought the Middle Market Road building in 2005 and it had offered dry cleaning since 2008. It was up for auction on December 13, but did not sell.

The three-storey premises formed part of the Canterbury Tavern, which closed as a pub in 1914.

The first floor contains a landing, six rooms, a toilet and two shower rooms. There are four rooms on the top floor.

The single-storey building beside Ye Olde Bakery in Caister has been a dry cleaners for many years and will go for auction on February 7. It has a pitched pantile roof and has an area of 68.6 sq/m.

Auction House East Anglia say both premises offer redevelopment potential.
