A bid to build three houses in Acle has been amended due to the 'unexpected' hike in interest rates.
Broadland District Council previously approved an application for four self-build plots on land north of Damgate Lane outside the village.
Now the applicants are seeking permission to change three of those plots to be market dwellings or self-build.

A document supporting the application states the reason for the change is that it is more difficult for people to raise finance for self-build plots with development mortgages, less people are undertaking buildings projects currently and less people are moving house - due to the high interest rates.

The applicants say that allowing the plots to be market dwellings would mean "a smoother delivery of all four plots and less impact upon the area in terms of noise and disturbance".
The construction work would be carried out by developer James Mallory Homes.
A decision on the bid is expected by February 16.
