A man is hoping to overturn a council's refusal of his bid to convert a pig pen into housing.

Russell Loades was seeking prior approval from Great Yarmouth Borough Council to transform a barn at Breydon View on Market Road in Burgh Castle into two houses.

In March last year, however, planners rejected the application, stating it failed to meet conditions for prior approval.

Among the reasons were the low heights of the buildings which made them "unsuitable for most adults".

Mr Loades has appealed the decision to the planning inspector.

In his appeal letter it is stated the existing buildings are "capable of conversation with minimal works".

The site is currently disused but it was previously employed as a pig pen.

The plans - which faced no objections - are for one single-bedroom and one two-bedroom house.

In 2020, the council refused an application for two houses to be built on the site, and two years later, a bid to convert the former pig pen into three houses was also rejected.
