People gathered to witness the blessing of a plough ahead of the new farming season.

Almost 30 attendees braved the cold morning at St Andrews, Wickhampton, to see Reverend Greenland bless the tractor, as well as a garden fork and seeds, outside the church.

Plough Sunday is a traditional English celebration where the plough is brought to the church so that the agricultural equipment and land can be blessed.

Following the outdoor blessing, the congregation proceeded inside for Holy Communion.

This was followed by 'very welcome' refreshments, such as tea, coffee, cheese straws and cake.

Organisers thanked Alfie, Owen and Roy, who contributed the plough for the blessing.

The trio also received recognition for their work in preparing the fields and sowing 'good seed' on the land.

The service took place on Sunday, January 14.
