A Norfolk Broads pub and hotel has closed ahead of a £1.4 million refurbishment.

The Kings Head Hotel, in Hoveton, closed on Sunday (February 4) and is not expected to reopen until the end of next month, when the refurbishment is complete.

The Station Road venue is set for a full interior and exterior refurbishment, which includes building a new outdoor bar.

Alterations will also be made to the bar inside the pub, where new fixed seating and screens are set to be installed.

There will also be a new check in desk for the hotel's eight rooms.

The Kings Head Hotel, which is run by Greene King pub group, has said the refurbishment will cost £1.4m to complete.

It is set to be closed for around six weeks, reopening on March 22.

A Greene King spokesperson said the pub will have a "revitalised décor and a fresh new colour scheme".

It said the refurbishment makes for an "enhanced customer experience", who will be able to "enjoy a drink outside all year round".
