From the creatures brought vividly to life in the blockbuster Jurassic Park films to ancient legends about mythical desert beasts - a new exhibition at a Norfolk museum will explore the world of dinosaurs.

Great Yarmouth's Time and Tide Museum will host a touring expedition about the prehistoric reptiles when Dinosaurium: Re-imagined Creatures arrives at Easter.

The exhibition will explore how every dinosaur featured on film, TV and in books has been, at least in part, a work of imagination.

Since the very first dinosaurs were identified there has been a desire to put flesh on the bones and a glint in the eye of the amazing animals.

And the exhibition, on loan from Hampshire Cultural Trust, will be combined with Norfolk Museums Service's own natural history and geology collections to tell how scientists drew conclusions about the animals which walked the earth millions of years before man.

The exhibition will also spotlight the remarkable life of Anna Gurney, a Norfolk-born philanthropist, geologist and social reformer, drawing on extensive research work undertaken by Queer Norfolk.

Natalie Fairweather, exhibitions officer for Norfolk Museums Service, said: "We are looking forward to an exciting summer of dinosaur and fossil-related activities in Great Yarmouth.
