A popular running event in Gorleston just reached a staggering milestone.

Joggers and sprinters embraced the February chill on Saturday, February 10 as the Gorleston Cliffs Parkrun celebrated its 700th event.

Since its first event in 2009 - and the first Parkrun to be set up in Norfolk - more than 14,000 people have crossed the finishing line on the promenade.

Records continue to be broken at the 5K, as Tyler Bilyard achieved a personal best in December, with a mind blowing 14:54.

The women's record still stands at an impressive 16:46, which was set by Danielle Nimmock in March 2018.

But as regular participants know, the glory of crossing the finishing line would be not possible without the 780 volunteers, who have braved all the elements and cheered on the fresh-faced runners over the past 15 years.
