A hair and beauty salon has been nominated for a national award just three months after opening.

Belles Hair and Beauty opened in King Street, Great Yarmouth, in December and has already been nominated for Best New Salon at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

Its owner, Lisa Kemp, said she started the salon after the one her daughters worked at in Gorleston closed.

Her daughter Annabelle had been due to start an apprenticeship there before the announcement.

"I remember I got the go-ahead on Black Friday," Ms Kemp explained. "With the help of some fantastic local tradesmen, we managed to turn the building that was a former recruitment agency into a stylish new hair and beauty salon in just three weeks."

She thanked her staff and customers for making the business such a fast success.

"The girls have absolutely put their heart and souls into making the salon work," she said.

The salon opens seven days a week for walk-in or pre-booked appointments.

As well as hair treatments, nails, waxes, facials, micro-blading, massages and aesthetics are also on offer.

Ms Kemp said the team's services have been attracting clients from as far away as Norwich.

"We’re really hoping our customers and friends support our nomination on social media and leave us reviews as we’d so much like to win the top award," she said.

“We like to think we offer the complete hair and beauty service as we also sell the professional products we use and we offer free door-to-door delivery in the town."

The new venture has been supported by the Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Inward Investment team.

Business advisor Paul Gardner added: “This is amazing news and so well deserved for Lisa and the team who worked so hard to get this new business off the ground.”
