More businesses have opened inside a once-prosperous shopping arcade in Great Yarmouth six months after new owners took over.
Victoria Arcade on King Street had fallen on hard times following a drastic downtrend in footfall on British high streets.
The arcade - which was bought at auction by Modern Design and Developments Ltd in October - has seen more businesses open in the past several months, with more on the way.
Arcade manager Rick Wilson said: "There's been quite a lot of interest from businesses looking to move in.
"We are carrying out upgrades to the overall space, and we remain hopeful we will get there.
"But these things take time."
22 retail units were empty. On Wednesday, that number had fallen to 15.
At the time of the arcade's sale,Joining long-term tenants The Book Shop and The Barber Shoppe is a nail salon, hairdressers and a white goods and home furnishings business, MP Market Place.
Mr Wilson added: "It's great to see more businesses down here. But as the cost of living crisis continues, some people are a bit more hesitant to take a chance. But there is still a great opportunity here.
"And we're delighted to announce new additions coming over the next several weeks."
In the corner unit, signs have been put up saying that TJ's Tea Room will be opening soon. Mr Wilson said the cafe, which will serve tea, coffee and cake in a more traditional setting, is set to open in the upcoming months.
A mobility shop is also expected to open in May.
"As more businesses come inside, the place will be very different," Mr Wilson added.
"We're also hopeful to extend opening hours for many shops during the summer, with some staying open until 8pm."
Modern Design and Developments Ltd bought the arcade for approximately £650,000 at auction. Following the purchase, the new owners hosted a grand reopening event on October 31 2023, which was attended by around 180 people.
