A talented Norfolk pupil has earned a full scholarship at a boarding school.

Great Yarmouth Ormiston Venture Academy pupil, Tegan Engstrom, has secured a full scholarship to Gresham’s School at Holt.

The gifted Year 11 pupil will join the prestigious Sixth Form boarding school from September 2024.

Tegan, who has her academic and career path set out, plans to study A levels in psychology, business and physical education, and further a business and psychology degree before serving in the British Army in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Regiment.

Ms Engstrom said: "I am so excited to attend Gresham’s in September, spending time there through this scholarship process has made me realise how big of an opportunity this is and how everything that Gresham’s provides its pupils can benefit me in achieving my goals and thrive in my time there as a student."

Gresham's scholarship is part of a long-standing tradition between Ormiston Venture Academy and Gresham's School.

The partnership aims to provide comprehensive educational opportunities to aspiring pupils.

The academy's principal, Simon Gilbert-Barnham, said: “All of us at Venture are so proud of Tegan gaining the Gresham’s Scholarship.

"She like so many at Venture has high aspirations that I am sure this next step to Gresham’s will continue to drive her to succeed”.

Dave Richards, vice principal at Ormiston Venture Academy, said: " I have no doubt that the 2024 Gresham’s Scholar, Tegan, like those who have come before her will grab this incredible opportunity with both hands and be a brilliant ambassador for the academy and the process that will continue to benefit many more in the future."

The deputy head academic of Gresham’s, Darrell Chart-Boyles, said: “During interview, Tegan demonstrated that she had researched Gresham’s and showed an excellent understanding of the opportunity that coming to study here would offer her; she will certainly make the most of this and we look forward to welcoming her in September.”
