A Great Yarmouth jam and marmalade shop has closed as a new business looks to move in.

The signage outside of Norfolk Preserves on Hamilton Road is in the process of being changed, as a new business called Mervin's prepares to open.

At the end of last year, Mervin Arulanantham applied to Great Yarmouth Borough Council for a premises licence in respect of 82 Hamilton Road, with the sale of alcohol between 6am and 11.30pm every day.

"We sold the building, sold our house and are moving to Oulton Broad," he said.

"I just had enough of doing it from a shop, really. I've been there for more than 30 years and wanted to wind it down a bit."

"I started making marmalades on a little cooker and the business just grew and grew."
