An arts festival has engaged more than 1,000 youngsters in creative activities in a Norfolk seaside town.

Set to provide a thrill in Great Yarmouth again, the Out There Festival 2024 is preparing to celebrate 16 years of outdoor arts, circus, and culture.

The festival runs from May 30 until June 1, and will showcase talent from across the globe.

The festival includes the Young Out There programme, which ran from May 7 to May 10.

This youth-led initiative, for ages 7 to 25, provided young people with inspirational experiences and creative activities.

Pupils from nearby schools and colleges participated and got the chance to perform with artists who will be featured in the festival, as well as take part in creative workshops and career talks.

Out There creative producer, Jacob Hewes said: “The Young Out There is an important element of our Out There Festival, where we engage with over 1000 children, students and groups providing a platform for young talent to express their creativity as part of The Out There International Festival of Outdoor Arts and Circus.”

The event took place at East Norfolk Sixth Form College.

College principal, Dr Catherine Richards, said: “Being part of Young Out There is really important to everyone at East Norfolk.

"We believe passionately in the importance of all the arts and by hosting Young Out There at the college not only can our students benefit from the wide variety of performances and careers talks on offer but also we can ensure that children in local schools are also inspired to get involved and be as creative as possible in their thinking and education.”

The Out There Festival has been described as the biggest free festival in the region, boasting the largest programme of circus in the UK.

It regularly attracts thousands of attendees.
