Homes and businesses in the Great Yarmouth area have been hit by a power cut.

UK Power Networks became aware of the situation in the NR30 area shortly after 8.30am.

A spokesman from UK Power Networks said: "We are aware of an unexpected power cut in NR30 1BS at 8.30am.

The power has since been fully restored with the website claiming all power was returned at 1.00pm today.A map showing the area affected by the power cut (Image: UK Power Network) "We did not know it was going to happen, so providing customers with prior notice was not possible.

"We are sorry if your power is off, we are working to get the lights on as quickly as we can.

"Engineers in our control room have switched some customers' power back on in your area, to get everyone’s power back on we may need to attend to investigate and make repairs."
