A MAJOR road will be closed during the early hours of Thursday morning to allow for re-surfacing work on St Olaves bridge.

The A143 will be closed to all vehicles from midnight to 6am while the work, costing 22,500, takes place as part of the project by Norfolk County Council's P&T Partnership. If the work is not completed it will continue the following night (Friday).

The existing bridge surface is rutted and cracked and resurfacing is needed before winter weather creates further problems, such as potholes.

Pedestrians will be able to use the adjacent footbridge as normal, but for vehicles the signed diversion route will be via Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Beccles and Haddiscoe.
