Motorists on A47 to face disruption in coming weeks due to closures

Motorists face a series of disruptions in the coming weeks, as a variety of works are carried out to improve the A47.

Starting this week, there will be overnight closures of stretches of the road both in King’s Lynn and Lowestoft, as well as Hopton-on-Sea and Thickthorn.

The works, which will be carried out by Highways England, will include repairs to Saddlebow Bridge in King’s Lynn and the Bascule Bridge in Lowestoft, and pothole repairs in Hopton.

The closures will all be between 8pm and 6am week days and are as follows:

Tuesday May 8 and Wednesday May 9: Bascule Bridge, Lowestoft

Tuesday May 8 until Friday May 11: Leisure Way to Sussex Road, Lowestoft

Tuesday May 8 and Wednesday May 9: Northbound carriageway, Hopton

Tuesday May 8 and Wednesday May 9: Between Thickthorn interchange and Ipswich Road, Norwich

Tuesday May 8 until Friday May 18: Underneath the Saddlebow Interchange, King’s Lynn

From Thursday May 10 for one week: Saddlebow Bridge to Hardwick Roundabout, King’s Lynn
