AFTER going from super-size to super-slimmer, Aaron Bagshaw from Great Yarmouth feels like a whole new man.

Since joining a Slimming World group just nine months ago he has lost almost five stone.

It represents an inspirational transformation for Aaron whose weight problem peaked after breaking his back in a car crash four years ago.

He gave up his job as a nurse at James Paget University Hospital following the accident and is now retraining to be social worker.

Currently tipping the scales at 17 stone, Aaron's achievement has motivated other members of the group and has seen his confidence soar.

Previously the 45 year old lacked the confidence to exercise, but is now a keen member of the gym, which has given his weight loss a further boost.

Aaron has been supported by girlfriend Amy Legard who encouraged him to join the Slimming World group in Yarmouth.

After previously dreading Easter, Aaron has discovered how to enjoy some sweet treats and still stay in control of his weight loss.

He said: “With Slimming World you don't have to give up the things you love, you just learn to fill up on healthy lean meats, potatoes and vegetables before turning to the chocolate."

“When I joined my group I was incredibly nervous at the idea of walking into a room full of women. But I don't know what I was worried about. From the minute I stepped through the door everyone was so friendly and made me feel so welcome.

“My consultant Rachel was fabulous too, she was always there for me whether it was talking in person, chatting on the phone, or sending texts, emails and little cards.”

After several unsuccessful diets Aaron is now confident of keeping the bulge at bay eating with his fitness regime and plenty of freshly cooked food. And he is optimistic about reaching his target weight of 16 stone in next few weeks.

Slimming World consultant Rachel Middleton, who runs the groups at St George's and Southtown, is full of praise for Aaron.

She said: “He has lost weight brilliantly and become a key member of my group. Now not only will he motivate and inspire his fellow members, but also other local men who are trying to lose weight.”
