A public open day that had been organised on Sunday at the archaeological excavation site at Springfield, Acle, has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

The event, from noon to 4pm, had been billed as a chance to catch a glimpse of Norfolk's Roman past with hundreds of fragments of pottery from mainly 200 and 300AD, as well as the remains of bones having been found there.

Organisers apologise for the cancellation.
