ACLE war memorial could be listed under plans proposed by the village's branch of the Royal British Legion.
Secretary Chris Basey said the charity was planning to apply to English Heritage to get the status to preserve the 88-year-old monument for future generations. He said the decision was based on the recommendations of the War Memorial Trust, adding: “There isn't any specific concern about the memorial's future. What we can do if we have a piece of history anywhere is to get it listed so that future generations can enjoy it.”
The proposal was discussed at a meeting of Acle Parish Council on Monday, which asked if Legion representatives could give a presentation of their plans at the next meeting in March.
