A healthy eating campaign aimed at the over 50s was boosted last week by an event held at The Acorn Centre in Great Yarmouth.

Delivered by Tesco, around 40 people attended the venue run by Age Concern Great Yarmouth on Regent Street.

Tesco home economist, Jackie Barnett prepared four healthy dishes and gave samples and recipe booklets to those attending, as well as hosting question and answer sessions.

Hayley Cook, the community champion based at the Tesco Extra store on Pasteur Road also attended the event and handed out specially prepared goody bags.

The centre’s services manager Jackie Tierney said: “Healthy eating is something we are keen to help people with and we were delighted that Tesco offered to host this event, which was wonderful.”

The centre is somewhere for anyone over 50 to drop in for a tea or coffee, or attend a host of activities, including line dancing, table tennis and quizzes. The event was part of Tesco’s on -going support for The Acorn Centre.
