Six practices in Great Yarmouth and Waveney will be offering additional GP and nurse cover after the Easter weekend.

All GP practices will be closed on Good Friday, the weekend and Easter Monday, but an extra 350 appointments will be offered over the course of today, Tuesday, April 3 and Wednesday, April 4.

The appointments are being made available because historically over the Easter period there is a higher rate of patients attending the emergency department, when they could have been seen by a GP.

The practices that are offering the additional appointments are: Park Surgery and East Norfolk Medical Practice in Great Yarmouth, Central Surgery and Gorleston Medical Centre in Gorleston, Alexander and Crestview Surgeries and High Street Surgery in Lowestoft.

Patients who are registered at any other practice in Great Yarmouth and Waveney are being advised to call their practice as early as they can on Tuesday or Wednesday if they need a same day appointment.

Anyone who needs to see a GP when their practice is shut should call 111, which is available 24 hours a day.
