GREAT Yarmouth has received a timely jobs boost with the opening of a material supplies business in the town.

Five staff members have so far been taken on at Silverton Aggregates in Southtown Road which starts trading on Monday.

And bosses at the Essex based business say they are optimistic that more vacancies will be created in the next few months.

Based at the former Yeoman aggregates site, the branch will supply building and landscaping products to trade and individual customers.

Stephen Thurtle has been appointed the manager at the depot stocking products including sand, cement, compost, paving, decking, decorative stones and landscaping products.

It is the sixth branch of the family owned firm to open and the first in Norfolk.

Co-owner Duncan Fowle said: “The aiming to increase staff numbers to 12 in the next few months as business develops. We have continued to expand even during the recession so are positive about the future. Our branches have expanded along the east coast so Yarmouth was the next logical place to go.”

The depot is open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5pm and Saturday 7.30am to noon. For more information call 01493 441186 or visit www.silvertonaggregates.co.uk.
