Alderman Swindell First School was successful in a bid to have a school workshop from the Education Programmes of China Now, the aim of which is to raise awareness of the Chinese culture. And last week all the children, including the nursery, took part in workshops delivered by the Yellow Earth Theatre. The workshops involved the children in songs and games that introduced them to the Chinese language of Mandarin and how the written form differs from English.
Headteacher Alison Hopley said: “The children were fascinated by what they learned and Chinese greetings resounded throughout the school all day.”
