Gorleston teenager Amy Wheeler Smith, has clinched in place in the England team of the World Baton Twirling Championships.

Amy, 18, who lives in Salk Road, pulled off a spectacular freestyle routine & a short programme of compulsory moves, to clinch a place in the championships which are coming to the UK for the first time ever in August.

They Wwill be held at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham from August 7-10 and Amy will take on the world’s top twirlers from Japan, France and the USA along with athletes from a further 20 countries worldwide, as they battle to achieve the prestigious World title.

Amy, is part of the Angel Baton Twirlers, based in Norwich. She is at East Norfolk Sixth Form College studying BTEC in Performing Arts and BTEC in PE.
