IN the Middle Ages, pilgrims would have crossed the marshes on the way to St Benets Abbey.
This year, walkers of the modern generation will be doing the same when the Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth's Annual Spring Charity Walk relocates to the Acle area. After eight years of walks in and around the Somerleyton Estate during which more than 120,000 has been raised for local charities, it was necessary to change the location.
All walks on Sunday, May 16, will start and end at Acle Recreation Centre.
There will be a choice of three routes of approximately six, eight, and 10 miles, one woodland and two riverside, one of which passes close to the iconic Broadland feature of St Benet's Abbey.
