RESIDENTS and groups in South Yarmouth have until the middle of next month to apply for a share in a 10,000 windfall available to organisations whose aim is to build and strengthen bridges within their community.

Friday is the closing date for applications under the Participatory Budget (PB) scheme which gives local people the opportunity to have their say on how money is spent to make their lives better.

The new project called Your South Yarmouth Your Decision is being run by Comeunity, the neighbourhood management programme.

All projects that are put forward need come from residents or groups from South Yarmouth and need to have a clear community cohesion focus helping people from different ages or backgrounds get on well together, bringing the community together, and celebrating life and diversity in their local community.

Applications will be assessed during January, and if deemed appropriate according to PB guidelines, groups will be invited to do an informal presentation at the next Comeunity Forum meeting, scheduled to take place at St James' Church Hall, Admiralty Road, on Tuesday January 26, which is open to all residents.

Groups will need to show how local people have been involved in the development of the project, how local people will benefit, and how any agencies or organisations have been engaged to help deliver the project. They will also be asked to give a clear breakdown of how the money they are asking for will be spent.

At this meeting, people from South Yarmouth will be asked to assess and score all presentations. Projects will be allocated funding in February or March.
