A Great Yarmouth bin has proven so popular that an appreciation group has been made in its honour.
The group on Facebook has been described as a place where people can “post pictures and share memories of the bin”, which is situated in Nelson Road.
To the layman, the bin appears to be no different to any other waste receptacle, but it transpires the bin holds many special memories for people in the town.
Mike Howard lifted the lid on his love for the bin in the Great Yarmouth Memories page and it soon transpired that many people had similar reflections.
Mr Howard said: “Can anyone remember this litter bin? It was a very nice bin and brings back so many nostalgic memories.
“When I did my paper round as a boy I used to lean my bike against it. We had many in depth conversations and it got me through my adolescence.”
From there, the litter bin picked up many sentimental comments.
Christopher Philpott said: “Still looking great, we used to throw empty coke cans in it, I can still remember the sound they made. Got the family coming around to look at the bin pic later and share stories together.”
Ellie Levi Killett said: “I remember that bin. I used to sit on it waiting for my school friends.”
Stu Curror said: “Probably my favourite bin this specific one was.”
A closed Facebook group was subsequently formed “strictly for Nelson Road South bin lovers only”.
