Man charged with arson following seafront home fire

Police have charged a 42-year-old man with arson after a fire at a seafront home in Great Yarmouth at the weekend.

Lance Meikle of Apsley Road, Great Yarmouth, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life following a fire in the road at about 11pm on Saturday evening.

He was arrested and remanded in custody on Saturday evening, and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court today.

Four fire crews were called to the scene in Apsley Road - two from Great Yarmouth and two from Gorleston.

Norfolk Police were also called and urged people to stay away from the area while the incident was dealt with.
