Preparations are well underway for one of the borough’s biggest summer events.

The committee behind Gorleston’s Clifftop Festival are still working on what the “something different” element will be while relying on the tried and tested formula that has been successful so.

The event will be staged over two days July 30 and 31.

Now in its 19th year the event’s stalls, rides and music attract thousands of visitors and is a key date for local families.

Last year organisers watched as dark clouds rolled in bringing unwelcome wet weather, only to move away just as quickly and allow the sun to shine.

The music element was largely unaffected and still drew large crowds, but other parts suffered with some hardy folk donning rain-gear and still enjoying what was on offer.

Co-ordinator Vicky Webber said the event was successful despite the rain.

A decision to move the main music arena to the south end of the cliffs proved to be a good one and the layout will be repeated again this year.

She said there would be something for everyone with live music in the main arena and acoustic arena, a dedicated children’s arena, and a timeless fun fair.

The fun dog show will take place again on the Saturday and the strongest men of East Anglia will return to battle it out in the strong man competition hosted by Top Body Gym on Sunday.

Charity, handmade crafts, and corporate stalls will line the walkways, and local sports, dance and theatrical groups will showcase their talents.

Once again the weekend will finish with sky-painting fireworks at 10pm on Sunday.
