THE Post Office has given assurances over the future of its services in Bradwell following the closure of its Beccles Road branch in July.
Brandon Lewis, prospective Tory parliamentary candidate for Great Yarmouth, had written to the Post Office expressing his concerns the decision to relocate the branch to the village's Premier store would result in drastic cuts in services.
The Post Office had been planning to move the previous outlet, but it was forced to close early after electricity engineers arrived unexpectedly to turn the power off due to unpaid bills.
Mr Lewis revealed: “I am pleased the Post Office has confirmed to me that the new store will offer the same range of services and extended opening hours.”
However, he was concerned it had not provided a timetable for the opening of the new Premier store branch.
Mr Lewis has sent letters to 1,760 homes in Bradwell explaining the situation with the closure of the Beccles Road branch and the response he had received from the Post Office.
