Babbage crew help Macmillan appeal
FUNDRAISING for Macmillan Cancer’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning went offshore in a big way.
In Great Yarmouth, David Batey of Offshore Design Engineering was once again preparing to involve staff in his offices in the big day in September.
A dedicated Macmillan supporter, David has been holding the fundraising events for almost ten years.
But then the idea snowballed. Richard Hill of the energy company Eon Rurghas and whose daughter works for Macmillan, caught wind of David’s charitable plans and decided the offshore platform Babbage that he worked on would hold a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning at sea!
Meanwhile back on land and in ODE’s office, hot beverages, tasty treats and David’s homemade brownies were all part of the spread, while Macmillan balloons, bunting and paraphernalia proudly displayed the charity’s cause for all to see.
Individual donations on the day added up to 150, and David’s office events raised almost 400.
The crew of the Babbage were joined by the crew of a nearby safety support ship, Puford, who then added 332 towards the total.
