A WELL-KNOWN baker's eastern outlets have raised over 83,000 for Children in Need, nearly doubling the previous year's total.
Greggs, who are in their fourth year of support for the charity, raised 739, 000 nationally, and stores in the east raised an average of 624 each.
Ken McMeikan, Greggs chief executive officer said: “In a year where everyone has felt the recession pinch, we've been completely overwhelmed by the support received from our local stores and their communities.”
“I'm incredibly proud of the commitment and energy that has gone into raising such an outstanding amount for Children in Need and want to extend a huge thank you to everyone, especially those who made it all possible.”
