Battle for the airwaves 2: Harbour Radio

The “Voice of The Community”, Harbour Radio, has applied for a five-year licence to broadcast its community service on FM.

Directors Neville Moore, Richard Routledge and John Rodgers have been heading up an extensive team who have been working tirelessly on the Ofcom application.

John Rodgers said: “The team has garnered support from MP Brandon Lewis, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council Trevor Wainwright and Cllr Harry Webb, the Green Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate – as well as also a vast amount of local charities and community groups.”

Harbour Radio began its broadcast to Great Yarmouth last January on 87.7FM for a month’s trial to conduct extensive market research into what sort of radio service Great Yarmouth wanted.

John added: “We found the station output was received incredibly well, and this support continues as we have been broadcasting our programming online.

“We have evolved and extended both in the way that our music output has developed in response to feedback from the community and included specialist shows like Blues, Country and Rock to our output.

“We have been very pleased to have been invited to appear at all the major local events this year and have been booked to do the same in 2015.

Harbour Radio operate from Fastolff House in Yarmouth.
