More than 1,000 people attended the Great Yarmouth Beer and Cider Festival at St George’s Theatre over last weekend.

It was the 10th time the event has been held in the town and was the most successful yet.

“We had over 400 people attend during the busiest session on Friday evening, the previous best being around 370. This worked really well as it was a warm evening and many people enjoyed the outside area between the theatre and the pavilion café,” said town centre manager, Jonathan Newman, who co-organised the event with beer sommelier Day Harvey.

The festival-goers got through well over 4,000 pints of real ale and some 1,100 pints of cider during the event, that ran through to Sunday lunchtime.

Plans are now under way for a second Winter Beer Festival in St George’s from November 24 to 27.
