Holidaymakers on a Broads hire cruiser had to be removed from the boat after it got stuck under a bridge in St Olaves, near Great Yarmouth.
Norfolk Police and a Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service crew from Great Yarmouth had to assist the coastguard at St Olaves Bridge just before 10.40am today (Thursday, August 2).
Fire crews helped remove the people from the boat, who were unhurt, and police assisted with “traffic management” a Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said.
A coastguard spokesman said: “The boat was at the mercy of the tide as it tried to get under the bridge at high tide, we have to wait for the tide to turn before freeing the cruiser.”
The bridge is near Fritton House Restaurant and Hotel. Hotel worker Adrienne Howlett said: “I heard people talking about it, I heard a boat tried to get under a bridge but it was too big.”
