Bogus caller warning for Yarmouth residents

PUBLISHED: 14:11 10 December 2010

A BOGUS caller tried to get into the loft at a Great Yarmouth resident’s house to deal with a damp problem in a neighbouring property.

Police are warning Yarmouth residents to be on their guard following the attempted distraction burglary in Yarmouth and similar incidents across the border in Lincolnshire.

The incident happened in Hamilton Road, Yarmouth at 11am on Wednesday.

The resident asked the caller to get his boss to contact them and organise a time for the future.

However, when checking with neighbours it was discovered that none of them had such an issue or had asked for any work to be undertaken.

Contact: Operation RADAR on 0845 4564567 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
