A SECTION of Hemsby beach was sealed off yesterday following the discovery of a suspected bomb.
Bomb disposal units from Colchester arrived on the scene at about 7pm, after police were alerted when a large metal object was found almost entirely hidden in sand.
A Norfolk police spokesman said that a 200m cordon had been placed around the object, found buried near the old lifeboat station.
It was discovered to be a large metal tank, which will be left in place as it was buried deeply.
The object, which was about 3ft by 3ft, had been discovered at about 4pm by someone using a metal detector.
