Borough to mark Holocaust Memorial Day

THE public is invited to attend a memorial service in memory of victims of the Holocaust next week.

The Rev Chris Terry will be leading a service and wreath laying ceremony at Caister Jewish Cemetery, Ormesby Road at noon on Wednesday, January 27 to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The Rev Chris Terry will be leading a service and wreath laying ceremony at Caister Jewish Cemetery, Ormesby Road at noon on Wednesday to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The day has been marked since 1999 to remember the estimated 1.5m people who perished in Auschwitz and its satellite camps during the second world war.

Yarmouth mayor Tony Smith, will lay a wreath on behalf of Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

Respects can also be paid in private the Jewish cemeteries in Caister, Blackfriars and Kitchener Road, which will be open from 7.30 am to 4.30pm.
