A school boy who got stuck in a bin while playing hide and seek had to be cut out of it by firemen.

Fire crews were called to Wroughton Junior School on Monday at 1.22pm and took around 10 minutes to carefully free him.

A spokesman said the boy was not distressed but had simply jammed himself into his hiding place - a metal waste paper bin inside the school - a little too well. He did not require medical treatment but was just a bit embarrassed.

The spokesman said children had a habit of getting themselves into a variety of situations they could not get out of. Over the years they had had to deal with a procession of youngsters stuck in toys or toilets or cot bars, but that the lad in the bin was among the most unusual.
