A dancing couple from Bradwell will be showing off all their best moves in their latest competition.

Clive and Jan Denby are preparing to take part in next month’s Stars of the Future finals in Brentwood, Essex.

Their appearance at the competition follows two successes in Blackpool in January, as they won the Intermediate Latin final and came third in a ballroom final.

MORE; First dance started Great Yarmouth couple’s passion for competitionHaving won Intermediate Latin, the couple are moving up a level again to Pre Championship level for next month’s event.

The success of the couple, who dance in over 35s competitions, follows a difficult 2017.

Mr Denby, 60, said: “Last year had been a mixed year for us both, we had become proud grandparents, had moved house and unfortunately Jan had lost her mother in April last year, so dancing had taken a backward step for us while we tried to sort our personal lives.

“We entered the two major competitions, Brentwood in June and Bournemouth in July, and unfortunately due to not being prepared we failed to make the finals in either competition.

We therefore decided to pull ourselves out of the competitive circuit for a while and return to training hard to avoid this happening again.”

The Denby’s road back to success started last November when they entered a competition again, leading to January’s return to top form.

And now Mr and Mrs Denby are looking forward to further success

Mr Denby said: “At present we are preparing for the Stars of the future finals at Brentwood in June, which is the southern part of England equivalent to Blackpool.

“This will be our first major final dancing at Pre Championship level since our win at Blackpool, so it will be interesting to see how we get on, if we make the final we’ll be happy.”

Describing the benefits of dancing, Mrs Denby, 58, said: “We both feel that dancing is still one of the best forms of exercise that anyone of any age can do. It has been proved that dancing is not only good for you physically but also mentally.”

The couple thanked Nigel and Larinda Smith for their continued support.
