Thomas Potter is alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm to Dean Piper in the King's Head pub in Ormesby St Margaret, near Yarmouth, on February 8.
Mr Piper suffered a cut nose and deep cut to his eye during the alleged attack.
Potter, 25, of Beccles Road, Bradwell, was bailed by Yarmouth magistrates to appear at Norwich Crown Court on April 17 for a preliminary hearing when he is expected to enter his plea.
