A group of poppy sellers have thanked the public for their generosity this year.

Veterans together with members of the emergency services, family and friends all teamed up to sell Royal British Legion poppies in the entrance of the Co-op ‘Rainbow’ Supermarket in Burgh Road, Bradwell.

The stall and volunteers were organised for the first time by Retired Warrant Officer Class 2 of the Royal Logistics Corps Karen Alexander and Retired REME Staff Sergeant and serving Gorleston lifeboatman Des Mallion from Belton.

Those taking part included HM Coastguard Denise Kilpatrick, lifeboat crew member Cliff Bisacre and Al Churchman, a lifeboat crewman and fireman who is also ex REME and his wife Sarah whose son is currently serving in the Army.

Karen Alexander said it was a good fundraising spot, adding: “People were very generous but we also heard some very moving stories of people’s experiences as well.”
